The Boston Bruins have assigned Trent Whitfield back to the Providence Bruins as they head back home to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning. He traveled with the team on their three-game road trip, but failed to see any ice time.
With Providence this season Whitfield has seven goals and seven assists in 43 games played. Last season he finished fourth on the team with 36 points (18 G, 18A)
Whitfield is in his 14th professional hockey season, appearing in 194 total NHL games with the Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues. He has recorded 11 goals and 18 assists for a career total of 29 points.
