FINAL

FIRST PERIOD:

FUN FACT:Last time Rolston played for the Bruins Bergeron was 18 years old and Seguin was 12.

Chara drills Condra into the board in the neutral zone. . Call to Shanahan since the Bruins are the only team that gets penalized? (totally legal, just some snide sarcasm)

Wow! Spezza with the puck and it’s saved by Thoams, puck gets behind him with a wide open net Condra tries for a wrap around and somehow Thomas makes the scrambling save.

Bruins are having some trouble finding their rhythm right now, no rhyme or reason to how they’re working. They need to make better decisions with the puck. With a young goalie, they should be peppering him with shots right now.

Seidenberg with a drive, glove save by Lehner, first shot from the Bruins.

Thomas tries to get back to the near post as Spezza transfers the puck to the other side and he makes a save sitting down. Carrying the Bruins right now.

Tyler Seguin has one goal in his last 13, Bergeron makes a steal and attempts a shot, save. He looks for Seguin and is able to get inside position to re-direct on the backhand, gets denied.

Smith tried to take off Seidenberg’s head over by the bench and Seids is able to duck under and avoid it.

9:41 Rolston gets his first penalty as a Bruin 2 for tripping. Shouldn’t have been a call.

The Senators power play is 19.5% (7th in the NHL). The Bruins penalty kill is 84.9% (7th in the NHL) (via @NHLBruins)

Seems Corvo has backed off from his comments about fighting Turris as he’s taken a few shifts and nothing has happened.

McQuaid knocks down Konopka, shoulder-to-shoulder, Boston crowd loves it.

13:06 Interference call on Tyler Seguin, when Marchand had the puck? Yeah, not sure about this one. . . . B’s on the penalty kill again.

14:54Karlsson from the blueline is able to get it past Thomas from a screen out in front who somehow ends up with Thomas’ stick, but no goalie interference. 1-0 OTT

Bruins need to have a rapid reaction and turn this game around.

Wow, impressive Bruins finally have a power play at 16:56

FUN FACT: Both times the Bruins have come from behind to win has been against Ottawa.

Big time save by Thomas by just dragging his left pad through, manages to get a toe on it and defense clears it out. VERY close call.

First Period Notes:

Bruins need to clean up their play in the neutral zone and step up their game period. They have no rhythm at all right now. With a young goalie playing in only his third professional game, they should have more scoring chances than 7. Their main focus needs to be staying out of the penalty box and keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Expect the Bruins to come out in the second roaring and ready to go with some rapid fire. . . hopefully.

“We’re turning pucks over trying to make too many plays and we just gotta get pucks deep and when we get it in we have success.” Brian Rolston (via Intermission Interview with Naoko Funayama)

SECOND PERIOD:

Corvo catching a lot of crap for being all talk and no fight, perhaps he just said it to take the focus off of his mistakes? I’ve got to agree with @ggooglyboogly when he says “put zanon in with big z for a sex-z d pairing”

Fun Fact: Zanon is the 8th player in history to have a last name start with ‘Z’

Bergeron wins the opening face-off to start the second period.

Corvo gets taken down? I’m not even sure how he lost possession there but Ottawa took it and ran.

Chara and Chris Neil reigniting their hostility towards each other from the other night in front of Thomas’ net.

Seguin flies with speed and wrists one wide then comes back down to race Karlsson to beat the icing call but is edged out.

Thornton and Neil exchanging some shoves, tempers are beginning to flair. Things are picking up on the emotional side which could make or break Boston. Right now, it couldn’t hurt. McQuaid and Phillips having words as well.

Seguin with a couple nice opportunities but comes up short.

“Six by four and he comes up zero”-Jacke Edwards.. Eric Condra misses an open net. Lucky break for the B’s.

Tim Thomas practically standing on his head making saves. He’s carrying the Bruins right now.

Shawn Thornton just skated behind Kyle Turris and whispered something into his ear after he crashed into Boston net.(via @HacksWithHaggs)

Thomas just made his 25th save and we’ve still got over 28:00 to play(via @NHLBruins)

Karlsson and Lucic exchanging some hits coming out of the defensive zone. Lucic with a two-hander knocks Turris down after Alfredsson talks to him at center ice and it’s a penalty on Lucic. Two minutes for slashing. It’s a retaliation type penalty. . Frustration setting in with the Bruins. . .

Marchand doing what he does best, ‘introducing himself’ to Sergei Gonchar.

Bruins need to take the puck in and create offensive plays not dish it in and hope to get to it. They need to make it happen

Chara mishandles the puck in the offensive and has to chase Neil down the ice.

Konopka and McQuaid squaring off as the buzzer sounds ending the second, referees break it up.

Second Period Notes:
The Bruins have been outshot 31-15 through the first two periods. They are lucky that Tim Thomas has been sharp tonight and are lucky it is only 1-0 at the end of two. Condra a nice pass to Foligno and missed the open net. If (and when) the Sens lose I am betting that’s the goal they are going to lose by. He’s going to be thinking of that all the way back to Ottawa.

“We’ve been a bit sloppy in all three zones, message in room to pick things up.”Mike Mottau(via Intermission Interview with Naoko Funayama)

Bruins have been sporting great third period efforts since their victory in St. Louis, they need to come out ready to play if they stand a chance at coming out on top tonight.

THIRD PERIOD:

“It manifests itself as an inability to stand after the smallest amount of pressure when within sight of black and white stripes.”Jack Edwards (via Twitter)

Seguin to Bergeron, did everything but manage a shot off, Spezza had just enough of an edge on Bergeron.

Karlsson and Seguin having an exchange, Seguin has a glove off. Seguin rushed to Marchand’s aid, of course.

Corvo with a one-timer that flutters wide.

Holding the stick penalty on Condra. Power play for the Bruins 5:13

Corvo hit someone. .  but it was the referee.

Bruins starting to find a rhythm, it’s only been 48 minutes. . .

Foligno to the box and Pouliot tried to use stick work around a couple D-men, got tripped twice. Power play.

Nice possession through this power play by the Bruins, Krejci able to get to the slot. (40seconds remaining)

Shawn Thornton with an opportunity, goes backhand and goes just wide. One of the best chances we’ve seen. Six minutes remaining.

Smith on a breakaway to put it away and a SAVE BY THOMAS!

“Let’s Go Bruins” chant breaking out at the TD Garden. This is the third period you have been looking for with just under four minutes left.

Marchand unleashes a HUGE hit, looked like he left his skates but no call. We’ll take it.

17:51 Bruins get a power play as Gonchar swings his stick and takes down Chara. If they can’t tie it here, they don’t deserve the two-points.

Thomas trying to go to the bench, one minute remaining and it’s empty.

Bruins unable to clear the puck out of their zone with a TWO-man advantage and Corvo dishes it in, Lehner gets his first ever shutout in only his third professional game.

That’s all she wrote for tonight. Next game is Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils at 7:00pm EST.
